Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna made TTD Asthana Vidwan for a third term

Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna is one of the pioneers in the field of both vocal as well as instrumental music has been today appointed as the Aasthana Vidwan of Tirumala Tirupati Dewasthanam's. This is his second term as Asthana Vidwan of TTD after a long gap .
He held the same post in 12987-90 along with M S Subbalakshmi and also in 2007 .

His appointment was announced by the TTD today after procuring his consent to become the Asthana Vidwan and contribute to improve and preserve the massive treasure cove of devotional and classical music collected by the Temple administration.

Dr M Balamurali Krishna was appinted as the Asthana Vidwan of the AP government during the Chief Ministership of T.Anjaiah in 1980 and also received various prestigious awards like Padma Vibhushan , Padmashree , Best Play Back Singer Award (1976) Best Music Director Award (1987) and UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Silver Medal award .

Dr. Balamurali Krishna was born onn 6th July 1930 at Sankaraguptam a small town near Rajolu in the East Godavari District . He gave his first solo performance in the year 1938, when he was only eight years old at Vijayawada,

A multifaceted personality Dr.M Balamuralikrishna is a singer, a music director, an actor and also an instrumentalist who had attained mastery over instruments like Veena, Violin, Mridangam and Khanjira.

Dr M Balamurali Krishna has contributed more than 400 compositions in the filed of Carnatic music. He is also credited with the conception of several new musical scales. Mahati, sumukham, trisakthi, sarvashri, omkari, janasamodini, manorama, rohini, vallabhi, lavangi, pratimadhyamavathi and sushama are some of the ragas created by him.
