PONGAL SPECIAL TRAINS

Southern Railway will run the following Pongal Special Trains to clear the extra rush of passengers during the eve of Pongal festival.

1. Chennai Central – Tirunelveli – Chennai Central Garib Rath Special: T. No. 06009 Chennai Central – Tirunelveli Garib Rath Special will leave Chennai Central at 19.30 hrs. on 12.01.2011 (Wednesday) and arrive Tirunelveli at 09.35 hrs. next day. T. No. 06010 Tirunelveli - Chennai Central Garib Rath Special will leave Tirunelveli at 14.55 hrs. on 13.01.2011 (Thursday) and arrive Chennai Central at 05.00 hrs. next day. The composition of the trains will be 13 AC 3-tier coaches. The trains will stop at Chennai Egmore, Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Vriddhachalam, Tiruchchirappalli, Dindigul, Kodaikanal Road, Madurai, Virudunagar, Satur, Kovilpatti and Vanchi Maniyachchi. T. No. 06010 will stop at Mambalam also.

2. Chennai Central – Sengottai Special via Chennai Egmore, Mayiladuthurai: T. No. 06011 Chennai Central – Sengottai Special will leave Chennai Central at 21.50 hrs. on 11.01.2011 (Tuesday) and arrive Sengottai at 12.30 hrs. next day. The composition of the train will be 1 AC 3-tier, 5 Sleeper Class, 6 General Second Class and 2 luggage-cum-brake van coaches. The train will stop at Chennai Egmore, Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Tiruppadiripuliyur, Chidambaram, Mayiladuthurai, Kumbakonam, Thanjavur, Tiruchchirappalli, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudunagar, Tiruttangal, Sivakasi, Srivilliputtur, Rajapalayam, Sankarankovil, Pamba Kovil Shandy, Kadayanallur and Tenkasi.

3. Sengottai - Chennai Central Special via Vriddhachalam, Chennai Egmore: T. No. 06012 Sengottai - Chennai Central Special will leave Sengottai at 14.30 hrs. on 12.01.2011 (Wednesday) and arrive Chennai Central at 05.00 hrs. next day. The composition of the train will be 1 AC 3-tier, 5 Sleeper Class, 6 General Second Class and 2 luggage-cum-brake van coaches. The train will stop at Tenkasi, Kadayanallur, Pamba Kovil Shandy, Sankarankovil, Rajapalayam, Srivilliputtur, Sivakasi, Tiruttangal, Virudunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Tiruchchirappalli, Vriddhachalam, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, Tambaram, Mambalam and Chennai Egmore.

4. Chennai Egmore – Tirunelveli Special Via Mayiladuthurai: T. No. 06103 Chennai Egmore – Tirunelveli Special will leave Chennai Egmore at 22.45 hrs. on 15.01.2011 (Saturday) and arrive Tirunelveli at 12.15 hrs. next day. The composition of the train will be 1 AC 2-tier, 6 Sleeper Class, 6 General Second Class and 2 luggage-cum-brake van coaches. The train will stop at Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Melmaruvathur, Villupuram, Tiruppadiripuliyur, Chidambaram, Sirkazhi, Mayiladuthurai, Kumbakonam, Thanjavur, Tiruchchirappalli, Dindigul, Kodaikanal Road, Madurai, Virudunagar, Satur, Kovilpatti and Vanchi Maniyachchi.

5. Tirunelveli - Chennai Egmore Special Via Vriddhachalam: T. No. 06104 Tirunelveli - Chennai Egmore Special will leave Tirunelveli at 14.55 hrs. on 16.01.2011 (Sunday) and arrive Chennai Egmore at 04.25 hrs. next day. The composition of the train will be 1 AC 2-tier, 6 Sleeper Class, 6 General Second Class and 2 luggage-cum-brake van coaches. The train will stop at Vanchi Maniyachchi, Kovilpatti, Satur, Virudunagar, Madurai, Kodaikanal Road, Dindigul, Tiruchchirappalli, Vriddhachalam, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, Tambaram and Mambalam.

Advance reservations for the above trains will commence on 08.01.2011.
